Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Valerie Veatch's documentary Love Child explores the tragic death of a baby in South Korea who perished from malnutrition because her mother and father were obsessed with online gambling to such a degree that they neglected their daughter to death. The filmmakers use this upsetting crime to examine how South Korea's reliance and commitment to technological advancement have affected its culture in both positive and negative ways. Love Child screened at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.
