Each a member of feuding gypsy clans, two lovers decide to marry despite their impossible circumstances. This exotic version of Romeo and Juliet expertly utilizes the passionate music and dance of flamenco to unravel its tale of love and tragedy. Written and directed by F. Rovira Beleta with adept cinematography by Rafael Peres de Rozas, Los Tarantos was nominated for a Best Foreign Film Oscar in 1963.
