Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Adapted for television by Paul Theroux from his own novel, the British miniseries London Embassy starred American actor Kristoffer Tabori as U.S. ambassador Spencer Savage. Having just served a stint at the foreign office in Malaysia, Savage was dispatched to London, where at first he thought that nothing untoward could possibly happen to him. Within a few weeks, however, the hero was swept up in a maelstrom of self-defeating bureaucracy, frustrating state secrets, gnomish spies and double agents, and gorgeous women who were Not What They Seemed. The six hour-long episodes of London Embassy were broadcast by Thames Television in 1987.
