In this odd little film, child star Gloria Joy plays a very precocious little girl. Nan Griffing (Joy) begs her mother to teach her how to dance, but the neighbors in the little country village are horrified at the sight of a child behaving in such a depraved manner, so little Nan is shipped off to the city to stay with her grandfather. But Nan doesn't go by herself -- she takes along her grown-up playmate, Simple Simon Magee (Charles Dudley), and hides him in the orchard. The servants, believing he is a ghost, are frightened of him. Nan believes she is grown-up, so she boldly proposes to her aunt's fiancé, Morgan Thornton (Edward Saunders). He accepts in fun, but Nan very seriously prepares to elope. When she is found out, she is very upset and demands that Thornton decide between her and her aunt. Thornton, of course, chooses the aunt, and Nan decides she's had enough of city life.
