Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Lissy (Sonia Sutter) is a young German bride of the early 1930s. When her ineffectual husband (Hans-Peter Minetti) has trouble finding work, he turns to the Nazi party for comfort and companionship. As the Nazi's power grows, Lissy comes to realize that her husband is no longer the man she fell in love with. Her solution to her emotional and moral dilemma is spelled out in the final's final reels. Based on a novel by F. Weiskopf, Lissy was East Germany's contribution to the 1957 Karlovy Vary Film Festival; it was also one of the few Eastern Bloc films of the era to earn an American release.
