Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
The Cha Cha, or Cha Cha Cha, involves easy basic steps that allow dancers to move about freely without having to count each and every step. Talented dancers and instructors Kathy Blake and Gene Russo show viewers how to do the walkaround turn, the crossover break, and other basic steps and movements. Experienced dancers may recognize how this dance resembles certain aspects of the Latin-American Mambo. Though the Cha Cha has only been around since the mid-20th century, it became popular very quickly when famous bandleaders, like Tommy Dorsey, began playing Cha Cha tunes that appealed to dancers and listeners alike. There are two more volumes in this dance instruction set that provide viewers with advanced Cha Cha lessons.
