Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

In this interesting first-time feature effort by director James Blue, the son of a French colonialist in Algeria learns about the issues in that nation, up close and personal. Jean (Pierre Prothon) has to go back to Algeria when he gets the news that his father has taken ill. When he arrives, memories of his childhood come flooding back as he moves through his old environment. Even though his father has treated his Arab workers with a certain amount of fairness and decency, it is clear that he is more than conscious of his white, Christian heritage and their "lack" of either. That adds a new perspective to Jean's memories. Along with his memories, Jean also faces the problems involved in the Algerian fight for independence.
