Giving Beaver (Jerry Mathers) his old pedometer, Ward (Hugh Beaumont) expansively boasts that he used to walk 20 miles a day when he was a kid. When Beaver repeats his dad's claim to his friends, Whitey (Stanley Fafara) laughs derisively, insisting that Ward was just blowing off some hot air. Betting his new catcher's mitt that his dad was telling the truth, Beaver defiantly takes pedometer in hand and sets out to match Ward's record -- only to reach the disheartening conclusion that Whitey knows what he's talking about!
