Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Leap to Fame opens with what was rapidly becoming a cliched plot device in 1918: Young playboy Charles Trevor (Carlyle Blackwell, who also directed) is booted out of his father's mansion and ordered to "make something" of himself. Obligingly, Trevor takes a job as a rookie newspaper reporter. Scooping the paper's ace news-hound, our hero rescues an inventor from the clutches of a German spy ring. Need we add that the inventor has a very pretty daughter (Evelyn Greeley), who gratefully marries Trevor in the closing reel? The most original aspect of Leap to Fame was the casting of crusty Scotsman Lionel Belmore as the head of the spies.
