Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

Neal Hart, a distant relative of Western star William S. Hart, labored in the netherworld of poverty row Westerns throughout the silent era, usually both directing and acting. In Lawless Men, produced by penny-pinching William Steiner, Hart played Steve McKay, a cowboy falsely accused of murdering the father (Charles Brinley) of his girlfriend. With the nasty-looking, scenery-chewing Lew Meehan in the cast, playing a character named Black Bart no less, the real culprit is not too difficult to spot. Black Bart is summarily shoved over a cliff, leaving McKay free to marry his beloved Ruth (Catherine Bennett). Diminutive Ben Corbett and motherly Florence Lee also appeared.
