John Rand (Kenneth Harlan) has a sneaking desire to bring Napoleon's tactics to the world of American finance. This is easier said than done, since he's only a minion working for the company of Charles Sherwood (Charles Hill Mailes), who won't let him become engaged to his daughter Marion (Carmel Myers). But one day, Rand happens on the formula for a new explosive, and when its inventor dies, he sells the plans to a foreign power. With the money from the sale, he builds up his financial empire while the foreign nation declares war on its neighbor. Marion has married Rex Reynolds (T.D. Crittendon), a mover and shaker in society. Rand, who has been snubbed, uses his market position to ruin those who were against him. He comes to a well-deserved end when an anarchist's bomb blows him away. Rand wakes up to find everything was just a dream, and Marion is still his sweetheart.
