Synopsis by Mark Deming

Lao An lives in Beijing and is a big fan of ballroom dancing, tripping the light fantastic with a group of fellow dance enthusiasts in a public park several times a week. While Lao An in 90 years old, age hasn't taken the spring from his step or romance from his heart -- in fact, while Lao An has been married for decades, he's begun seeing another woman on the side, Xiao Wei, a gal in her forties who he met while dancing in the park. Needless to say, Lao An's wife is not the least bit happy with this situation, but after so many years together, she isn't prepared to leave him without a fight, while the husband with the wandering eye doesn't seem to think there's anything wrong with finding a little extra romance outside the home. Filmmaker Lina Yang follows the true-life story of this elderly Casanova and some unexpected twists his life takes in the documentary Lao An. Lao An was an official selection at the 2008 Melbourne International Film Festival.
