Living conditions in the American southwest can be frustrating and unrewarding. The program outlines how they managed to adapt, and the methods used by plants and animals to adapt to this harsh environment. The Papago and Pima Indians learned to survive long before, and their relationship to the natural surroundings are examined. When Europeans inroduced irrigation to the desert, the face of the land was changed forever.
