Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
After World War I, there were many "displaced persons" throughout Europe. Quite simply, these are people who were driven from their homes for one reason or another, and who were unable to return. Homeless, they wandered about the countryside seeking work, food and shelter. Peaceful and unfocused, some of the romantic notions attached to hippies also apply to this group of people. This Czechoslovakian film tells the story of some of these people, including two young men. One, a former divinity student, falls to his death from a church belltower. Another seeks stability in marrying a widow but is unable to settle down.
