Synopsis by Sarah Block

The La Scala Theatre in Milan is perhaps the most famous opera house in the world. It was severely damaged in World War II, but reopened a few years later, and its legendary performances stand the test of time in this documentary of the historic venue. Rare backstage footage is interspersed with excerpts from some of the acclaimed operatic and orchestral productions that were performed there. Included are scenes from Bizets Carmen, Rossini's Barber of Seville and Verdi's La Traviata.
