This combination documentary and docudrama tells the story of three people (two in re-creations, one through the documentary format) who suffer from anorexia, or "self-inflicted starvation." In the stories, one woman attempts to starve herself to death for quasi-religious reasons. The second story follows a teenager who uses starvation as a means of asserting some control in a life which affords her few other outlets for expression. Finally, the documentary follows a real girl through the recovery process.
