Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
This is an especially educational documentary that is in reality a compilation film made up of historical footage, old newsreels, and similar materials that paint a picture of life in France under the German occupation. Rather than focus narrowly on one group alone, compiler Henri Torrent has decided to illustrate the activities of both the collaborators and the partisans, not only in France but in other countries as well. At the very least, this technique shows what the resistance fighters were up against. Along with this information, he combines a clear narration and takes note of the major conflicts as they occur.
