Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
The title of this Turkish drama describes a storm at sea that threatens any fisherman or young swallows not strong or expert enough to survive. In this case, the "young swallow" is the son of a shoemaker who has gone to learn his father's craft in Istanbul. When he returns to the village, his father wants him to continue in the family business but life in Istanbul is too appealing. After the young man marries a local schoolteacher who also longs to leave the village, they both head for the city against the father's wishes. Once established in an urban setting, the new husband loses a chance to work as a cobbler and he begins to argue with his more educated wife. These adverse winds indicate a storm is on the way.
