Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

Director Harry Rasky has created several documentaries on creative individuals in the arts or letters, and this offering is in the same vein. The subject is the Armenian-Canadian Yousef Karsh, a professional photographer who first became well known for his images of wartime personalities in the '40s. This biography is especially informative because Karsh is viewed from many angles. He is questioned on his work and philosophy, filmed while doing a shoot of Leonard Bernstein, and hundreds of his photographs are shown. He not only comments on his photos and the people they portray, but director Rasky has provided supplementary historical footage to bring Karsh's subjects to life as well.
