Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Kamikaze is a wartime tribute to the famous Japanese suicide pilots. Lensed in the final year of the war, the film has an air of desperate bravado. What was intended as inspiring at the time now seems very sad, and not a little pathetic. Still, the film serves as an invaluable record of a long-defunct Japanese cultural mindset. For that alone, it is recommended.
