Synopsis by Hal Erickson

One of the few examples of Japanese anime to be seen on British television in the 1960s, Kaibutsu-Kun could have easily been retitled "Shock Theater Junior." Based on the comic book created by Fujiko Fujio (the joint pseudonym of Moto Abito and Hiroshi Fujimoto), the series chronicled the spooky-but-funny adventures of the Lil' Monster Prince and his pint-sized pals Franken, Dracula, and the Wolf Man. Produced by Studio Zero and TMS and originally telecast in Japan from April 21, 1968 to March 23, 1969, the 51-episode Kaibutsu-Kun was seen in the U.K. during that same period as Little Kaibutsu. A much-later sequel, Kaibutsu-Kun II, has apparently not been shown in an English-language version.
