Synopsis by Tracie Cooper

Arguably the single most important right of American citizens, voting is often neglected, whether from apathy, disillusionment with the current political process, or a lack of faith in one vote actually making a difference. Just the Facts: The Election Process in America highlights why voting should be taken quite seriously and reviews the election process throughout the history of the nation. Though once strictly limited to white, male property owners, voting slowly expanded to include minorities, women, and eventually any citizen of the United States. The Electoral College is also discussed, as are potential ways to improve the election process in the wake of the highly controversial Bush vs. Gore presidential race of 2000.
