Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

In the opening chapter of Universal's Jungle Queen, Tonga (George Reed), the Judge of the Middle Jungle Tongghili tribe, is murdered by Chief Maati (Napoleon Simpson), who is in the employ of Nazi Germany in general and the vicious Lang (Douglas Dumbrille) in particular. The latter is secretly in cahoots with Dr. Elise Bork (Tala Birell), whose cover is that of a Swedish lady botanist. It is 1939 and Germany hopes to conquer British Middle Africa and thus be able to control the southern approaches to Europe. But the cruel power has run into an unforeseen obstacle: Lothel (Ruth Roman), or "White Butterfly" in Tongghilese, a mysterious white woman feared as the Queen of the jungle. Both America and Great Britain are interested in preventing Nazi hegemony in the Middle African jungles and the head of the British Secret Service, Mr. X. (Lumsden Hare), approaches noted explorer Alan Courtney through his niece, Pamela (Lois Collier). The Americans, in turn, send volunteer agent Bob Elliott (Edward Norris) and his auto mechanic friend, Chuck Kelly (Eddie Quillan), to battle the Nazis and they, along with Pamela, are soon headed for the river town of Tambosa on a clipper plane. But German agents Krantz (Bob Stevenson) and Johan (Edmund Cobb) have engaged in a bit of sabotage and the plane crashes into the side of a mountain.
