Synopsis by Hal Erickson
William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Julius Caesar has been translated to film on several occasions. This German TV production isn't one of those adaptations. Rather, it is a full-bodied staging of the opera version Julius Caesar by George Frederick Handl. Theo Adam sings the title role, while Celestina Casapietra appears as Calpurnia. At a mere 124 minutes, Julius Caesar is one of the peppier filmed operas on the video market.
