Synopsis by Mark Deming

Iconic singer and songwriter Johnny Cash was in the midst of a Scandinavian tour in 1971 when he was invited to star in a concert special for Danish television. Taped on a simple set before a small but enthusiastic audience without additional guests, announcers, or production numbers, the broadcast preserved Cash's road show as it was presented at the time, with appearances from his touring partners June Carter Cash, the Carter Family, Carl Perkins, and the Statler Brothers. Man in Black -- Live in Denmark 1971 features Cash singing his hits "A Boy Named Sue," "Sunday Morning Coming Down," "I Walk the Line," "Folsom Prison Blues," and many more; other selections include "Blue Suede Shoes" (Carl Perkins), "Flowers on the Wall" (the Statler Brothers), and "If I Were a Carpenter" (Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash).
