Synopsis by Mark Deming
There's fun and excitement galore in this family-themed tale of a girl and her dragon. Roxanne (Michelle Horn) is a princess who will one day rule the Red Mountain, but she's also a kid who would rather play outside and have fun than think about power and politics. When a wizard named Gallivant arrives to supervise the coronation of Roxanne and her sisters, she decides she wants no part of it and runs away, with the help of her trusty flying dragon Twitter (voice of Harvey Korman). Roxanne and Twitter soon fly into a number of remarkable adventures as she battles the enchanted Darklings and discovers one member of the royal family is actually an imposter. Jewel Kingdom: The Ruby Princess Runs Away was based on the popular book for children by Jahnna N. Malcolm (a psudeonym for Jahnna Beecham and Malcolm Hillgartner).
