Synopsis by Janiss Garza

The name of writer James Oliver Curwood usually brings up visions of fierce battles and the Royal Mounted Police charging to the rescue. But the book on which this drama was based focused instead on the moral code of a group men at a Northwoods trading post. One of them, Frederick Cummings (William Peavey), brings a wife, Nancy (Louise Prussing), back from a trip to the States. The other men of the post -- 17 in all -- treasure and respect her. When Blanding, a representative from a fur company (Richard R. Neill), tries to force his attentions on Nancy, he is met with stern disapproval by the men of the post. Cummings has gone off on a trapping expedition, but hasn't returned. The leader of the men, Jan Allaire (Warner Richmond), goes looking for him and finds him dead. But when he returns to the post, he temporarily holds the truth back from Nancy. After he saves her from Blanding's attentions he tells her of her husband's death. She heads back to the States, but Jan, who has fallen in love with her, hopes that someday she will return.
