Synopsis by Hal Erickson
One of the more successful efforts from the regional Scottish Grampian TV network, James the Cat could be described as a Hibernian variation of Garfield. Using cutout figures and stop-motion animation, the series chronicled the adventures of a fat, lazy feline named James, who seemed inordinately proud of his lack of ambition. Joining James from time to time were his hyper-neurotic pals, a kangaroo and a snail. Debuting in 1984, James the Cat earned the respect of the U.K. television industry when it outrated a highly touted documentary series on rival outlet Channel 4.
