This comedy-drama was director Lynn Reynolds' first five-reel production, and it's pretty ordinary stuff. Myrtle Gonzalez is the heroine -- a pretty girl whose ambitious mother (Lule Warrenton) wants to marry her off to an English nobleman (Bertram Grassby). The girl, however, loves a plain American, the son of a wholesale fish dealer (Val Paul, who himself would soon leave acting for directing). The girl's ineffectual father (George Hernandez) likes the young American too, but his wife overrides him and the family heads for Honolulu, where the matriarch hopes her daughter will wed the nobleman. Her sweetheart, however, follows after her, pursued by a detective who believes he has stolen money from the office of the girl's father. The young man shows typical American ingenuity, dodging the detective and, when he is thrown in jail, escaping and marrying his girl right under her mother's sleeping nose. It turns out that the father's secretary absconded with the funds, so the young American is cleared of any wrongdoing.
