Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
This slice-of-life drama about the Italian immigrant community in Toronto is a first-time effort by Italian-Canadian Luigi Petrucci and involves the adjustment of Rita (Gisela Zdunek) to a new way of life. Rita is an attractive woman living in Rome with no good prospects for her future. As a way out of her dilemma she opts to marry Andrea (Nelio Zordan), sight unseen, and move to Toronto. After she arrives she is disheartened both by Andrea, who is older and of the lower working class, and by the harsh winters in this northern climate. It is no surprise then, that Rita becomes attracted to Andrea's young nephew Carlo (Pino Ubaldo) whose breezy personality seems to be just what she needs for balance. Torn between loyalty to her husband and a growing love for Carlo, Rita's future is put on course by a tragedy.
