Iron Mountain Trail (1953)
by Hans J. Wollstein review

Rex Allen, Republic's last B-Western hero, was no actor, to put it mildly, but the studio cleverly surrounded him with experts in the field such as director William Witney, heavies Grant Withers and Roy Barcroft, and, in this instance, even a leading lady in Nan Leslie, who had previously done yeoman duty in quite a few RKO oaters with Tim Holt. With tyro comedy relief Slim Pickens added to the cast, no one notices Allen's thespian shortcomings. Fast-paced, loud, and occasionally very funny (a barroom scene in which a shanghaied sailor refuses to stay unconscious is typical), Iron Mountain Trail remains an enjoyable hour or so of juvenile Western hi-jinks, Republic-style.
