synopsis
The Austrian Irene in Noeten (Irene in Need) concerns the misadventures of typist Reni Romana (Brunl Loebel). The story proper begins when Reni is run over by a car. Though unhurt, the girl is allowed to convalesce in the bed of her boss, Peter Cirmann (Hans Olden). It's all quite innocent, of course, but Mrs. Cirmann (Helli Servi) suspects the worst. The farcical complications and misunderstandings come thick and fast, with a steady stream of new characters to add to the confusion. Irene in Noeten has all the earmarks of a prewar Austrian comedy, even though it does its best to remain up to date with the 1950s.
