Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Documentary filmmaker Konstantin Bojanov focuses his attentions on the proliferation of heroin usage in Eastern Europe in light of the announcement that heroin addiction had reached epidemic proportions after the fall of the Soviet empire. When the Iron Curtain finally fell, the folks who had once lived in its shadow were suddenly offered an alternative lifestyle that was never available to them in the past. Set in Sofia, Bulgaria, and focusing on the highs and lows experienced by six young addicts over the course of three years, Invisible bypasses the traditional issues examined in drug-related documentaries in order to examine the existential views of its troubled participants, who go largely unseen in traditional society.
