Yet another variation on the old Candid Camera-America's Funniest Videos formula, this weekly Fox Network series specialized in placing everyday folks in embarrassing situations and pulling practical jokes -- all for the benefit of the hidden cameras of the title. Executive producer Chris Cowan promised the series' fans that the stunts and gags would "go for the jugular," but always with a good-natured sense of humor. Comedian Doug Stanhope was the series' resident Tom Green, suckering innocent bystanders into outrageous circumstances. Invasion of the Hidden Cameras was test-marketed by Fox on July 12, 2002, in anticipation of an official fall premiere.
