Synopsis by Mark Deming
In 1991, the success of Nirvana's second album, Nevermind, finally brought alternative rock into mainstream acceptance, and dramatically changed the playing field of both the music industry and the way punk and underground were perceived by the mass audience. Inside Nirvana: A Critical Review is a documentary which looks at this important band and their legacy. Along with rare live footage of the band and observations from rock critics on the group's music, Inside Nirvana: A Critical Review also features interviews with people who knew the late Kurt Cobain, including his grandfather Leland Cobain, his guitar teacher Warren Mason, friend and housemate Dave Reed, and more.
