Part of the In Search Of series, this documentary explores the world of the Mayan people and the reasons for the collapse of their civilization. Narrated by series host Leonard Nimoy, In Search of Mayan Mysteries discusses how the Mayan people built some of the world's most historical structures, including the great Mayan pyramids and Mayan temples. Also examined are other Mayan innovations, including their numbering system and their written language that is a combination of murals and carvings with religious significance. Historians and anthropologists talk more about the culture and heritage of this fascinating group of people and also provide theories about how the entire civilization suddenly disappeared. Although the Mayan people are gone, the remnants of their innovations and influence are still studied today.
