When white settlers began encroaching on Native American soil in the late 17th Century, the natives would frequently "adopt" stray settlers into their tribes as a means of replacing lost tribesmen. Now, thanks to The History Channel, the stories of these "adopted" settlers and their experiences with tribal life are dramatically recreated to illustrate why many of the captives eventually refused to return to civilian life even when explicitly given the opportunity to do so.
