Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The PBS series In Search of Ancient Ireland was inspired by the simultaneously published book co-authored by filmmaker Leo Eaton and Carmel McCaffrey. The three-part, three-hour series endeavored to separate fact from fantasy in its depiction of the Emerald Isle, though in most cases the dividing line was thin indeed. The timespan depicted herein began with the arrival of the neolithic families some 4,000 years before the birth of Christ, and ended with the Norman Invasion. In Search of Ancient Ireland was broadcast in the United States from June 12 to 26, 2002.
