Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Five tales of life on the US/Mexico border are interwoven to offer a sobering look at sociopolitical impact of illegal immigration in the United States. Maribel is a waitress in Juarez, Mexico whose ailing son will soon die unless he receives the treatment that's only available in the U.S. Meanwhile, honest day-laborer Ariel wrestles with temptation to earn more money by smuggling drugs across the border, and her fellow field worker Arturo experience an intense crisis of conscience when confronted by a devious immigration officer. And while agents attempt to gain access to a powerful drug cartel through drug dealing New Mexico dishwasher Ignacio, small-time trafficker seeks to escape the violence all around him before becoming just another statistic.
