Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
This slightly melancholy, sometimes slow-paced drama follows the ups and downs of a young Communist Party representative sent to a remote Estonian village to improve their crop production. The essentially urban Kukumagi (Arvo Kukumagi) does not have much of a clue about farming. Villagers tend to ignore him, but when his boss comes and rakes him over the coals, the farmers start to sympathize with the victimized Kukumagi. Since he was sent out to work in the fields with them anyway, they start showing him a few pointers, and before the first bars of the International can be sung, he is ready to challenge his boss with some good production quotas. But will that really get him where he wants to go?
