synopsis
Career gangster Joe Sante recalls his involvement in organized crime while testifying before the Senate Rackets Committee in Washington. Invoking the Fifth Amendment, he explains his ties to gambling, extortion, narcotics and murder. From humble beginnings as a bet collector to top crime boss, Sante's actions affect his relationships with his mother, girlfriend, and a host of unseemly characters that lead to ultimate betrayal and death.
