Worried that her baby will be adversely affected by the "sloppy" use of the English language in the Ricardo household, expectant mother Lucy (Lucille Ball) hires an English tutor named Percy Livermore (Hans Conried) for herself and Ricky (Desi Arnaz). After several grueling sessions about what not to say in front of the baby (remember those fatal words "okay," "swell," and "lousy"), a frustrated Ricky discovers that Lucy has convinced Livermore to waive his fee in exchange for Ricky allowing the erudite Englishman to recite a sappy poem at the Trocadero. It is at this point that Ricky makes a better deal to Livermore -- and in the process neatly punctures all of Lucy's pretensions.
