Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
Tony Au Ding-ping directs this melodrama about two female neighbors: Carole (Carina Lau Kar-ling), a flaky mistress to a wealthy businessman, and Wen-yuen (Pat Ha Man-chik), an ambitious career woman. The film opens with Carole intervening in a fight between Alice (Rosamund Kwan Chi-lam) and nebbish blowhard Edgar (Lawrence Ng Kai-wah). When Carole apologizes the following day to Edgar for jumping into their spat, they end up getting into a fight themselves. Meanwhile, Carole starts hanging out with Wen-yuen -- who is seeing a bunch of guys -- along with her friends. In spite of herself, Carole finds herself drawn to Edgar and eventually breaks up with her kindly older beau Edward (Kenneth Tsang Kong). Though Carole and Edgar eventually move in with each other, they begin to harbor second thoughts -- Edgar about Alice and Carole about Edward, especially when he starts seeing Wen-yuen.
