Synopsis by Janiss Garza

French Canadian trapper Hugon (Monroe Salisbury) is the strongest man in his neck of the backwoods. When he comes upon a surveyor, Roque (George Holt), trying to force himself on a girl, he stops the man and tries to strangle him. However, the girl, Marie (Margery Bennett, sister of silent star Enid), begs him to stop. Even though Hugon doesn't understand, he obeys her. He is taken with Marie, but she already has a suitor, Gabriel (Antrim Short), so he tries to make a man of him. But Hugon's rough way of life is too much for the cowardly Gabriel. Roque, meanwhile, has made a crooked survey of the land and is telling all the property owners that they must leave. Hugon refuses and he gets into a fight with Roque and his followers. To Hugon's surprise, he is injured and he begins to realize that perhaps he is not infallible and that perhaps there is a power greater than himself. With this bit of insight he learns about faith, and wins Marie's hand.
