Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Two decades after highlighting the growing pains of Israel in his 1978 documentary The House, director Amos Gitai reveals how each successive resident of the longstanding residence serves as a metaphor for the conditions in the young nation. By exploring the surrounding neighborhood, Gitai underscores the volatile conditions experienced by the Israelis who chose to settle in this part of Jerusalem while casting a light on the suffering experienced by the expropriated Palestinian family that contends with the pain of seeing something that was once theirs, and knowing that they'll never have it again.
