review
Although obviously a throwaway B-movie, this little horseracing comedy remains entertaining mainly because of the wonderful teaming of ZaSu Pitts and the acerbic James Gleason. Gleason is listed as co-director as well, but Hot Tip bears the personal mark of Ray McCarey, who had earned his comedy wings under Hal Roach. With McCarey as the traffic cop and such scene-stealers as Willie Best and Del Henderson doing what they do best, the 70 minutes or so running time goes by lickety-split with no one the worse for wear.
