Synopsis by Perry Seibert
Mirjiam Kubescha's documentary Hoodlum follows the work of a theater troupe that seems like a typical clan of creative types until the director reveals they are hardened criminals serving serious time in an Italian prison. The filmmakers show them rehearsing and performing a series of Brecht pieces, including a production of The Threepenny Opera in which a convicted murderer sings the most famous song, "Mack the Knife."
