Clark Gable and Lana Turner positively sizzle as a combustible duo who take to the wild and woolly west in Honky Tonk, a star vehicle if ever there was one. Never mind that Gable has played the same charming rogue many times before (San Francisco, Idiot's Delight, etc.) and that Turner at times does remind you of a teenager recently discovered in a drugstore. But when they go in for that first clinch, everything else, including scenery, supporting cast, and screenplay simply fade into the murky background of an MGM sound stage.
