Synopsis by Robert Firsching
This amusing exploitation actioner from director Wu Kuo Ren does not actually feature any characters named Eva, despite its title, and has a very peculiar ending. Bill Tung stars as a friendly ex-convict who helps restore women's faith in men by beating up their loutish boyfriends and listening to their problems. Eventually, his daughter introduces him to a woman named Ann (Agnes Chan), with whom he begins a romance. Unfortunately (and incomprehensibly), all of Tung's female friends are murdered by a gangster, driving him insane. It is a bizarre ending to a film which is fairly smooth and sexy for most of its running time, but Hong Kong film fans have come to expect such abrupt shifts of mood. Wong Oi Mei co-stars in this entertaining oddity.
