Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Best described as a living comic strip, the British children's sitcom Hold the Front Page was created by comedienne Denise Coffey as a vehicle for herself. Coffey starred as Gloria Glamorsox, intrepid girl reporter for the "Weekly Bizarre." In her efforts to get the goods on a criminal mastermind named Mr. Big, Gloria journeyed through a world of cartoonlike backgrounds, courtesy of the chroma-key process. Also in the cast was Roy Hudd as the nominal leading man, known variously as R. Hero and Ian Trepid (it was that kind of show). The six 25-minute episodes of Hold the Front Page were shown from January 16 to February 27, 1974 by Thames Television.
